SCOPE
Complex improvements in an active transportation hub
South Central Inc. completed a multi-phased Hostile Vehicle Mitigation project at Union Station for the City of Toronto. The assignment combined heritage vertical masonry with important security and public-realm infrastructure in one of the city’s busiest transportation hubs.
The scope included more than 190 security bollards, custom precast barriers, granite paving replacement, concrete slab repairs, trench drain installation, partial sidewalk waterproofing and associated civil work. Public safety, pedestrian access and station operations were maintained throughout the work.
From early coordination through final completion, the project centered on careful staging, durable material choices and exacting execution. The completed work strengthens public safety while respecting the architectural importance of Union Station.
